CLASS NEWS AND NOTES:
What a wonderful time of year. It is great to be a teacher around Thanksgiving. Being thankful is so important, and it is great to hear for what first and second graders are thankful. Topping the list in our room are God, families, friends, school, the world, and food. It is amazing how those are the same things that top the lists of adults as well. Kids really aren’t as shallow as some would believe. We are busy these days learning about Native Americans and Pilgrims. We have made teepees out of tortillas, totem poles out of paper towel rolls, and read countless books by and about Native Americans. As we study the Pilgrims we will learn all about why the Pilgrims came to America, the Mayflower, the first Harvest Feast, as well as taste foods the Pilgrims ate on their way to America. We will even have a Harvest Feast of our own with the kindergarteners. In religion class we will be learning about and writing our own Psalms of Praise. We are even doing some writing about being thankful in language arts. All in all things are rolling right along here in first and second grade. We pray you find many things for which to be thankful this season.
